Generate Ideas For A Theme
Creating a good scrapbook is all about creating a visual journey that is both beautiful and memorable.

A common pitfall for novice scrappers is trying to do too much, so start small.

Think of a solitary event or moment that you can focus your scrapbook page on. Better yet, you can focus on one aspect of one event – like the funniest moments at a birthday party.

This is much easier than trying to cram the entire day into a scrapbook, especially for beginners.

Select A Good Album Size
There are a lot of different scrapbook size formats available, but the most popular are 12" x 12" and 8.5" x 11".

As a result of their popularity, these sizes tend to feature a lot of variety in design and the type of paper used. With that in mind, you should be able to find the perfect scrapbook album for what you are wanting to do.

As a rule of thumb, 12" x 12" pages are great for photographs or additional flair and design.

If you feel that it is too much space, though, then err on the side of caution and get the 8.5" x 11" pages.
Select Your Layout
This is the part of scrapbooking that lets you spread your creative wings – the layout and design. It can be overwhelming, particularly if you don't have a specific layout in mind.

The best way to handle this is to mess around with different layouts and designs.

To help decide on a good layout, consider where the focal point of the page will be.

If you have any pictures that you want to include but are too big, do not be afraid of trimming them to the right size.
