Scrapbook Using Magazine Pages: Vibrant Recycled Embellishments

For today's post, I'm going to show you how to make a fabulous scrapbook layout using magazine pages.

All you need are your scissors, tape, pens, and your preferred magazine. As for me, I have some really cool and funky magazines that have fantastic illustrations.

The first thing we need to do is find our scrapbook page title. In this magazine, the word "Flow" just looks amazing especially with its fabulous and colorful background.

Let's cut this out with our scissors by going around the edges of our title. This is going to be my title for the page I am going to create. Of course, on your case, you can choose your own fabulous title from your magazine.

Next, we'll create some funky flowers from the same page where we cut our title. Since this page follows a consistent color scheme, it will look fantastic if this is also where we cut our flowers.

With that, let's cut out some circle and wobbly-looking shapes that we'll later turn into flowers.

Now that we have our flowers, it's time to look for a background that matches the color scheme of our magazine cut-outs. For that, I have here a 12x12 pastel cardstock pack where we can choose from.

I chose a pastel yellow background as it complements the colors of our magazine cut-outs well.

Next, we'll be using our white pen to make our wobbly shapes look more like flowers.

What I'm using is a pigment ink white pen, but another white pen that I can also recommend is a Posca pen, especially if you get one with a small nib size.

We're used to using our white pen on black backgrounds but they can do so much more than that! In this case, we're using our white pen to draw on pastel and colorful magazine papers.

For your photos, anything with too much detail or too much color is going to get completely lost in our colorful scrapbook layout. So find your favorite photo that will be a perfect fit!

This is the photograph that I chose which looks absolutely beautiful on our page. I've also drawn out some white and rugged-looking circle at the back, and inked the edges of our flowers to make our layout pop out a little bit more.

To finish it off, I've put some additional text so it reads "Going with the flow is what you do best..." which is something that my middle child in the picture does very well!

So there we have a very simple yet fabulous layout just by using the front cover of our magazine.
